Preliminary test of the flexible heat shield in VKI Plasmatron facility

As a further example of the technological capabilities of the partners of the project, we present in this article the video of a preliminary test under plasma of a candidate material to be used for the fabrication of the flexible heat shield.

First preliminary experiment of the flexible heat shield (test sample 80mm x 90mm) in a supersonic overpassing plasma flow produced by the 1.2 MW inductively coupled VKI Plasmatron facility.
